Born, raised, and still kicking on the Charleston Coast, Betty Poore is a phenomenon.
“When I started in the business, Kiawah and Seabrook were in early development, and Wild Dunes was just getting started. It was a great time to live and work here. It still is.” How does she do it? Simple, she says. “Buyers and sellers have always wanted solid information, dependable service, consistent communication, and professional experience, and that’s what I try to deliver each and every time.” It must be a smooth brew; many of Betty’s buyers and sellers have been working with her for decades.
“I love what I do,” she says, “and I hope it shows.” (Yes, Betty, it does.) Look up “resident expert,” and you’ll likely find Betty’s photo and resume alongside the definition for the phrase.
“My mom, Toddy Poore, was a pioneer in the Charleston real estate market, a single mother with six kids and a full time job. I’d like to think I’m continuing her tradition, walking in her footsteps ... except for the six kids, of course.”
For more than 40 years (and still counting) Betty has magically transformed buyers and sellers into “friends.” And for slightly less time — since 1992 — she and her husband have lived in Wild Dunes, where in addition to loving her work, she loves her golf, her gardening, his cooking ... and the occasional glass of wine.
Since 1989, dunes properties has grown to be one of the Charleston Coast’s most successful boutique real estate firms, consistently ranking in the Top Five of Charleston County sales. From 2016-2018 the company closed a record $600 million in sales. Although the company has grown to five Charleston area offices, there’s still nothing more important to their success than a dedicated group of knowledgable agents. Their clients started saying it in 1989, and it’s truer now more than ever - “Nobody knows the Charleston Coast better.”
